Master of English Education

The Master of English Education program at the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta offers a unique blend of scientific, Islamic, and Indonesian perspectives, which sets it apart from other programs.

The total number of admissions over the five years is 69, with a noticeable gender disparity: 14 male and 55 female students. In 2020, there were 18 admissions, predominantly female (16). Admissions peaked in 2021 with 20 students (15 female, 5 male). A downward trend follows, with only 9 students admitted in 2024 (1 male, 8 female). Overall, female students consistently outnumber males in each year represented.

The majority come from Java Barat (16 students, 25%), followed by Banten (15 students, 23%) and DKI Jakarta (13 students, 20%). Smaller groups are from Sumatera Utara (4 students, 6%) and various other provinces, each contributing between 1% to 3% of the student population, including Sulawesi Tenggara, Aceh, Riau, and Sumatera Barat. The least represented provinces, each with 1 student (1%), include Jambi, DI Yogyakarta, Sulawesi Selatan, and Nusa Tenggara Barat.

  • Indonesia has the highest number of students, totaling 65, which constitutes 95% of the entire cohort.
  • Turkmenistan follows with 2 students, making up 3%.
  • Egypt and Afghanistan each have 1 student, accounting for 1% respectively.

This data indicates that the MPBI program is predominantly comprised of students from Indonesia, with limited international representation from a few other countries.
